The costs have not been small in the last couple of months (food, accommodation etc) and as well as those I am continuing to pay rent at home in London. However, I am now overjoyed to announce that a private sponsor has come forward to hugely offset the costs of this little expedition which will enable me to continue to walk and, crucially, continue to raise money for Walking With The Wounded
So, I’m very pleased to introduce William Blair & Company: Global Investment Banking and Asset Management.
Jeff Urbina, partner and senior portfolio manager at William Blair & Company:
I’m proud that we at William Blair & Company can be the title sponsor for A Short Walk Home. The task that Ed has set for himself is breathtakingly epic. To walk 2,800 miles non-stop, across 9 countries, alone and unsupported, is a tremendous physical and mental achievement.
Ed selflessly does this in support of Walking With The Wounded, so his battle scarred colleagues of recent conflicts can have a better life.
The Armed Forces do so much on our behalf, and we hope others join us in supporting this worthy cause through donations to Walking With The Wounded.
At William Blair, we are committed to being a long-term partner to the communities where we live and work as we believe it is a fundamental attribute to the way we do business.
Please remain reassured, however, in spite of this fantastic development for me, absolutely every penny (and the Gift Aid!) of the private sponsorship that you donate through my Justgiving Page or via any CAF Cheque will continue to go to Walking With The Wounded.
If there are any other potential sponsors that would like to be involved with this challenge, in order that I can continue to try to meet (and hopefully smash!) the target of raising £25,000 for Walking With The Wounded, please do get in touch with me via email.
In return, any sponsor will receive media coverage through a multitude of channels as I secure interviews via a comprehensive PR and digital strategy. I will also work closely with the communications team of any sponsor to ensure that relevant collateral (images and copy) is received by them as agreed.
I’ve decide to run the commercial sponsorship aspect as a three tier system: Title, Secondary and Kit Sponsors.
There will be four title sponsor packages available. In agreeing to be a secondary sponsor, you will:
I currently have sponsorship from kit producers already (Hennessey Hammocks, Osprey Backpacks and Bridgedale Socks), and am still in discussions with footwear and clothing sponsors, but if you would like to be a kit sponsor, there are still opportunities. You will:
During the course of the walk so far, I have been interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk and BFBS, as well as appearing on the front covering of the Eastern Daily Press and be featured in numerous other local press.
I hope that as the walk concludes, this will ramp up further and there will be opportunities to conduct media interviews (hopefully on a national level) and hopefully gain some good coverage for not just Walking With The Wounded but all sponsors involved as well.
If you (or anyone you know) would be interested in becoming a sponsor of A Short Walk Home, please get in touch either through the contact form or by email email@example.com
And don’t forget – you can still chuck a personal donation in my direction in aid of Walking With The Wounded through the Justgiving page.
